DARKFURIES PUBLISHING
Galley Deck View

Kickstarter Launch, a busy week, and my thoughts about the Open Game License

November 25, 2023.

The Colonist Companion launched late last Sunday night on Kickstarter. I also placed a 40-page preview on DriveThruRPG.com, so if you haven’t seen it yet you can pick it up for free here:

A couple of folks have contacted me and would like to chat with me in Discord about Centennia, so I’ll post more information on that once I have it. The first chat should be in early December.

A Busy Week

Much of my time this week has been spent looking at artist portfolios and communicating with artists. Pictured above is the first completed interior art, a camera view of the galley deck of an Empyrean spacecraft. I think the artist did a very good job. I have five other artwork commissioned thus far, and I actually received two great sketches for the skimmer this evening:

- A pose of the doctor archetype,
- A scene of a skimmer (a low-to-ground vehicle),
- A picture of a palette (a compressible technology drawing tablet),
- A space scene of an Empyrean transport with attached T-Limb, and
- A scene of an engineer archetype in an Empyrean engineering room.

This week I also finished the interplanetary travel times for the spaceships chapter. The last item in that chapter, aside from adding in the interior art, is the Empyrean small-scale deck plan. I’ve been working on the deck plan and expect to have it done next week.

My Thoughts about the OGL

And lastly, my thoughts about the Open Game License and the d20 System® License. In my opinion, the actions that Hasbro has taken and are planning are reprehensible. I did not know Gary Gygax well, but I believe he would be appalled. I will not make any further products that utilize the d20 System® in any form.

Besides, 10Gine uses 3-feet squares so the extra two feet would just get in the way. Something like that anyway :)
